Modeling, Digital Tools & Technical Assistance
Techno-economic modeling and decision-support tools that stay with the client, plus training and institutional technical assistance.
The problem
A model or tool is needed that the institution can re-run itself, not a black-box deliverable that expires when the assignment ends.
The most common outcome of a modelling assignment is a model nobody can re-run.
It arrives as a result rather than as an instrument. Assumptions are embedded, the method is described but not reproducible, and the one person who understood it has moved on. When the question changes — and it always changes — the institution is back where it started, holding an answer to a question it no longer has.
How we work
We build models to be handed over, and that constrains how they are built: documented assumptions, a structure a competent analyst can follow, and a method the institution can defend as its own rather than cite as ours.
Technical assistance is treated the same way. The measure of a capacity-building programme is not what was delivered during it but what the institution can still do afterwards — a harder objective, and a more useful one.

How this discipline thinks
Key questions answered
- 01Can our own staff re-run this after the assignment ends?
- 02What decision does this tool actually support?
- 03What capacity does the institution need to build to sustain this?
Typical deliverables
A techno-economic model documented for hand-over, a decision-support tool tied to a specific decision, and a training programme aimed at what the institution needs to sustain the work itself.

- Decision-support tool
- Training programme
